This restaurant has been in Pomona, California for so long, it rated a name drop in a 1969 newspaper column bemoaning the post-war explosion of fast-food joints in the Inland Empire. It’s mentioned in the company of such vanished and attention-getting roadside institutions such as Tugboat Annie’s, Magic Towers and the once ubiquitous Howard Johnson’s. Donahoo’s is a survivor of a lost paradise of sorts, from the golden age of guilt-free fast-food dining, housed in buildings with compelling designs and signage.
